Dynamite Cop is a 3D beat ’em up and action game developed by Sega’s AM1 team and released on the Dreamcast in 1999. It serves as the sequel to the arcade title Die Hard Arcade (released in Japan as Dynamite Deka), with the Dreamcast version offering the same fast-paced combat in a new setting and storyline. The narrative places players in control of one of three operative characters tasked with rescuing the President’s daughter from modern-day pirates on a cruise ship and later on a deserted island.
Gameplay follows the arcade beat ’em up tradition: players fight through environments using punches, kicks, combos, and an assortment of weapons—including comedic items like tuna fish, bread, and burgers—some of which can be combined into more potent tools like flamethrowers. The game proceeds across branching paths based on the player’s entry point, with each path offering varying challenges and an ultimate showdown mode for high-stakes play.
The Dreamcast port adds features compared to the arcade original. It includes a bonus arcade minigame—Tranquilizer Gun—which becomes available for unlimited play once players complete all main stages. The Dreamcast version also includes unique costumes and unlockables, and maintains cooperative two-player mode for shared gameplay.
