Genre: Educational

Platform: Sega Pico

A Year at Pooh Corner is an educational Storyware title for the Sega Pico, released in November 1994. It was developed by Novotrade International and published by Sega, with additional regional publishing by Samsung Electronics and Tec Toy. The game features licensed characters from Winnie the Pooh in a variety of themed mini-games.

The gameplay is organized into seasonal themes—spring, summer, fall, and winter—each presenting multiple activities. In spring, the player helps Pooh place blown-around objects, pins the tail back on Eeyore, and waters Piglet’s garden. Summer activities include a river-based question-and-answer task. Fall includes navigating a honeycomb maze, and winter involves tracing letters, numbers, and shapes on a frozen lake and building a snowman.

An additional feature allows players to create their own short animations by combining music, backgrounds, characters, and drawing tools. This creative “make your own video” option enhances interactivity and gives children room for imaginative play.

The presentation uses fixed side-view screens with child-friendly, storybook-style illustrations and animations, designed to accommodate the Pico’s pen-based input system. The visual style remains simple yet charming, fitting the educational tone and preschool audience.
