Dragon Force is a real-time strategy and role-playing game developed for the Sega Saturn. The game is set in a fantasy world where eight different rulers must unite to battle a greater evil. Players select one of the rulers, each with unique backgrounds and starting territories, and lead their kingdom through diplomacy, war, and strategic conquests to unify the land.

The gameplay is characterized by large-scale battles involving up to 200 soldiers on screen at once. Players can issue commands to their generals, who each lead units of various troop types such as soldiers, archers, or mages. Combat unfolds in real time, but the player’s strategic choices, such as unit positioning and formation, greatly affect the outcome of engagements.

Outside of battles, the game includes a campaign layer where players manage their kingdom, recruit generals, and expand territory. Generals can be persuaded to switch sides, strengthening the player’s army as the campaign progresses. This combination of battlefield tactics and resource management gave Dragon Force a distinctive blend of strategy and role-playing elements.
