Edo City Renaissance is an economic simulation game set in 18th-century Edo (modern-day Tokyo), Japan. Players take on the role of Tanuma Okitsugu, an influential economic advisor during the Tenmei era, tasked with revitalizing the capital by accumulating six million ryō through strategic economic planning. Gameplay focuses on managing taxes, budgets, investments, and public works projects, as well as fostering cultural and scientific advancements.

The game presents a top-down perspective with real-time 2D scrolling visuals. As players progress, the city of Edo visibly transforms, reflecting the economic growth and development achieved through their decisions. This dynamic city-building aspect allows players to witness the tangible outcomes of their strategies.

Edo City Renaissance was developed by NEO-GETEN and published by Victor Interactive Software. The Sega Saturn version was released in 1997, following an earlier PC-98 release in 1995. The development team included director Makoto Ishikawa, along with designers, programmers, and artists such as Masashi Inde, Junki Kato, and Akihiro Kabaya.
