Sakura Taisen 2: Kimi, Shinitamou Koto Nakare, known in English as Sakura Wars 2: Thou Shalt Not Die, is a cross-genre game blending tactical RPG action, visual novel storytelling, and dating sim elements. It was developed by Red Company and Sega’s CS2 R&D (Overworks), and released in Japan on April 4, 1998 for the Sega Saturn.

Set one year after the events of the original game, the story follows Ogami Ichiro and the Flower Division as they face new threats in Tokyo—from supernatural demons to political conspiracies. Two new team members are introduced, enhancing both the gameplay and character dynamics. Story progression unfolds through the Live & Interactive Picture System (“Double LIPS”), in which players make time-sensitive dialogue choices that directly influence character relationships and battle effectiveness.

Combat sequences take place on isometric grid-based battlefields, where units maneuver, attack, and use special abilities called Deathblows. Relationships built during adventure segments influence bonuses in combat, encouraging players to balance social development with strategic planning. The game unfolds over 13 episodes, providing a rich narrative experience with multiple character arcs.

Sakura Taisen 2 achieved significant commercial success, selling over half a million units during its first week and becoming one of the best-selling titles for the Sega Saturn in Japan. Praised for its production values, character writing, and enhanced gameplay mechanics, the game remains a benchmark example of genre fusion on the platform.
