Assassin’s Creed: Revelations

Genre: Action-adventure
Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
Publisher: Ubisoft
Year: 2011
Platform: PlayStation 3

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is the fourth main entry in the Assassin’s Creed series and serves as the conclusion to the stories of Ezio Auditore and Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad. Set primarily in Constantinople during the early 16th century, the game follows an older Ezio as he searches for keys to unlock Altaïr’s hidden library beneath Masyaf. As with previous titles, the game combines historical fiction with modern-day sequences involving Desmond Miles, who remains trapped in the Animus after the events of Brotherhood.

Revelations introduces new gameplay mechanics such as the hookblade, which enhances movement and combat by allowing players to zipline across rooftops and perform extended climbing sequences. A crafting system for bombs is also introduced, allowing players to create various tactical devices. The game includes expanded Brotherhood features and an overhauled tower defense-style mechanic for defending Assassin dens against Templar attacks.

The PlayStation 3 version includes exclusive access to the original Assassin’s Creed as a bonus, provided via digital download. This offer was available at launch and gave PS3 players a chance to revisit the origins of the series. Multiplayer from Brotherhood returns with refinements, including new game modes, characters, and customization options.

Revelations received generally favorable reviews. Critics praised the detailed setting of Constantinople, narrative closure for the main characters, and technical polish. According to Metacritic, the PlayStation 3 version received strong ratings, though some reviewers noted that the core gameplay formula was beginning to show signs of repetition.
