Back to the Future: The Game is a graphic adventure title developed by Telltale Games, based on the iconic film trilogy of the same name. Set six months after the events of Back to the Future Part III, the game features an original story in which Marty McFly must travel back to 1931 to rescue an imprisoned Doc Brown and prevent changes to the timeline. The game was developed in collaboration with Bob Gale, co-creator and co-writer of the films, ensuring narrative continuity with the source material.

The game is structured as a five-part episodic series. Players control Marty McFly in a third-person perspective, solving puzzles, interacting with characters, and navigating time travel-related challenges. The gameplay emphasizes dialogue choices and environmental exploration, following the same engine and style used in other Telltale adventure titles of the era. Voice acting includes Christopher Lloyd reprising his role as Doc Brown, while A.J. Locascio voices Marty with approval from Michael J. Fox, who makes a brief cameo appearance.

The PlayStation 3 version was released as a digital title on the PlayStation Network in North America in 2011, followed by a physical retail version. While the game remained largely the same across platforms, the PS3 version was noted for providing an accessible console alternative to the previously PC-exclusive format.

Reception of the game was generally mixed to positive. Critics praised the writing and faithful representation of the franchise’s tone and characters, though some noted limitations in puzzle complexity and graphical polish. According to Metacritic, the PlayStation 3 version received average reviews, with particular appeal to fans of the film series.
