LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is an action-adventure game that reimagines the first three Indiana Jones films — Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, and The Last Crusade — through the distinctive LEGO lens. Developed by Traveller’s Tales, the game combines platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat with humor and stylized visuals, consistent with the studio’s previous LEGO adaptations.
The game features 18 levels spread across the three film-based storylines, each divided into six chapters. Players take on the role of Indiana Jones and various other characters, each with unique abilities. For example, certain characters can dig, repair machinery, use weapons, or solve specific types of puzzles. Local two-player co-op is supported, allowing drop-in/drop-out play on the same screen.
The PlayStation 3 version delivers improved visuals over earlier console generations, with smoother textures and lighting effects. However, it does not include any exclusive content or unique features compared to the other HD console versions. Progression through levels unlocks additional characters and secrets, with Free Play mode enabling players to return using any unlocked character to uncover hidden items.
The game was well received for its accessible gameplay, family-friendly tone, and faithful adaptation of the source material, though critics noted that the gameplay formula was becoming familiar. The combination of action, exploration, and humor helped it appeal to a broad audience, especially fans of the films and the LEGO game series.
