Medal of Honor: Tier 1 Edition

Genre: First-person shooter
Developer: Danger Close, DICE
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Year: 2010
Platform: PlayStation 3

Medal of Honor (2010) marked a reboot of the long-running franchise, shifting its focus from World War II to modern-day warfare. Developed by Danger Close for the single-player campaign and DICE for the multiplayer component, the game was released on PlayStation 3 as part of EA’s effort to compete with contemporary military shooters.

The game is set in Afghanistan and follows the operations of U.S. Tier 1 Operators and Army Rangers engaged in covert and large-scale military missions. The single-player campaign emphasizes realism, drawing inspiration from actual military operations and featuring characters based on real-life special forces operatives. The campaign includes varied mission types such as stealth infiltration, sniper support, and full-scale assaults.

Multiplayer was developed using the Frostbite 1.5 engine, separate from the single-player portion, and includes class-based combat, unlockable weapons, and objective-based modes. The PlayStation 3 version includes exclusive content not found on other platforms, such as the remastered Medal of Honor: Frontline as a bonus in the “Limited Edition” and “Tier 1 Edition” packages.

The Tier 1 Edition of the game offers early access to special in-game weapons and customization options. This edition was released alongside the standard version and shares the same core gameplay content.

On PlayStation 3, the game received mixed to positive reviews. Critics praised the atmosphere and authenticity of the single-player campaign but found the multiplayer experience less innovative compared to competitors. The inclusion of Frontline was noted as a value-added feature for PS3 users.
