Year: 2014
Platform: PlayStation 3

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is a third-person multiplayer shooter developed by PopCap Games and published by Electronic Arts. Initially released for Xbox and Windows platforms in early 2014, it was later brought to the PlayStation 3 in August of the same year. The game is a spin-off of the popular Plants vs. Zombies tower defense series and marks a shift toward action-oriented gameplay while retaining the franchise’s signature humor and style.

The game pits plants against zombies in online multiplayer modes supporting up to 24 players, as well as cooperative modes for up to four players. Players choose from various character classes on each side, such as the Peashooter, Sunflower, Foot Soldier Zombie, or Engineer, each with unique abilities and roles similar to class-based shooters. Strategy and teamwork are encouraged, especially in objective-based modes like Gardens & Graveyards and Team Vanquish.

The PlayStation 3 version includes all the content from the original release along with several free downloadable updates that had been added post-launch on other platforms. These updates introduced new maps, character variants, and game modes, enhancing the overall experience. While the PS3 version lacks the split-screen feature found on newer consoles, it still offers a robust online experience and retains the core gameplay features.

Powered by the Frostbite 3 engine, the game delivers detailed environments and a cartoonish visual style that complements the whimsical tone of the Plants vs. Zombies universe. The PS3 version maintained solid performance overall, although some visual fidelity was scaled back compared to its PlayStation 4 counterpart.
