Genre: Puzzle-platform
Developer: Valve Corporation
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Year: 2011
Platform: PlayStation 3

Portal 2 is a first-person puzzle-platform game developed by Valve and published for PlayStation 3 in 2011. As a sequel to the acclaimed Portal from The Orange Box, the game builds on its predecessor’s portal-based mechanics with expanded puzzles, a deeper narrative, and new gameplay elements. The PS3 version was notable for its integration with Steam, allowing cross-platform play and cloud saving between PlayStation 3 and PC/Mac.

The single-player campaign follows protagonist Chell as she awakens in the Aperture Science facility and is once again tasked with solving a series of portal-based puzzles. The narrative introduces new characters, including the AI Wheatley and a returning GLaDOS, the sardonic artificial intelligence antagonist. Gameplay involves creating two interconnected portals to navigate space, solve physics-based challenges, and progress through increasingly complex test chambers.

New elements introduced in Portal 2 include Excursion Funnels (tractor beams), Hard Light Bridges, and Repulsion/Propulsion Gels, which expand the variety and complexity of puzzle-solving. The PlayStation 3 version features full support for the DualShock controller and optional PlayStation Move support via motion pointer emulation (though not widely used).

Portal 2 also includes a dedicated cooperative multiplayer mode with its own narrative, where two robots—Atlas and P-Body—work together through separate test chambers requiring teamwork and coordination. This mode can be played locally via split-screen or online.

Critically acclaimed, Portal 2 received high praise for its inventive gameplay, writing, and voice acting. The PS3 version was particularly well-received for its inclusion of Steam features and robust performance.
