Rayman Legends is a 2.5D platformer developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and published by Ubisoft for PlayStation 3 in 2013. As the direct sequel to Rayman Origins (2011), the game continues the series’ signature style of vibrant, hand-drawn graphics and tight, challenging platforming gameplay.
The game features a variety of levels with unique themes, ranging from medieval castles to underwater worlds, and incorporates new gameplay mechanics such as rhythmic music-based levels that require players to jump and move in time with the soundtrack. Players can control Rayman and his friends, including Globox and the Teensies, with both single-player and local cooperative multiplayer modes supporting up to four players.
Rayman Legends builds upon the success of its predecessor by offering a large number of stages, collectibles, and bonus content, including remastered levels from Rayman Origins. The level design is praised for creativity, variety, and the introduction of dynamic elements that interact with the player’s actions.
The PlayStation 3 version runs at a native 720p resolution, compared to the Wii U and PC versions which run at 1080p. Despite this difference, the PS3 version maintains the game’s core artistic style and gameplay experience without significant compromises.
The game received widespread critical acclaim for its art direction, level design, and multiplayer fun, often cited as one of the best platformers available on the PlayStation 3.
