Virtua Fighter 5

Genre: Fighting
Developer: Sega AM2
Publisher: Sega
Year: 2007
Platform: PlayStation 3

Virtua Fighter 5 is a 3D fighting game developed by Sega AM2 and released for the PlayStation 3 in 2007. As the fifth main entry in the long-running Virtua Fighter series, it continues the franchise’s emphasis on technical precision, realistic martial arts styles, and competitive balance.

The game features a roster of 17 characters, including new additions El Blaze, a lucha libre wrestler, and Eileen, a monkey-style kung fu fighter. Each character is rendered in high-definition with detailed animations and stage environments, designed to take advantage of the PlayStation 3’s hardware capabilities. The game runs in 720p resolution and offers fluid character movement, although the PS3 version lacks some features found in later updates.

Unlike the later Xbox 360 release, the PlayStation 3 version of Virtua Fighter 5 did not include online multiplayer at launch, which was a point of criticism at the time. It does, however, offer a comprehensive single-player experience with Arcade, Versus, Dojo, and Quest modes, the latter simulating a virtual arcade circuit with AI opponents of increasing difficulty.

Despite lacking online play, the PS3 version was generally well-received for its deep fighting system, graphics, and solid AI. It remains a notable entry for fans of competitive fighting games who appreciate complexity and technical skill.
