Genre: Action

Year: 1983
Platform: Tomy Tutor

Pooyan is an action arcade game by Konami, adapted for the Tomy Tutor home computer. Players control a pig who must protect its piglets from wolves attempting to invade. The gameplay consists of two main scenes.

The first scene is set near the pigs’ home, where Mrs. Pig rides a cable car moving up and down. She shoots at wolves descending in balloons. If the wolves land safely, they attempt to climb a ladder nearby to catch Mrs. Pig. Mrs. Pig can shoot their balloons to make them fall, preventing their advance.

The wolves shoot acorns at Mrs. Pig, who also uses meat to lure wolves off their balloons, creating bonus points. The second scene moves to the wolves’ lair, where they have reinforced balloons requiring multiple hits. When wolves assemble in packs, they attempt to trap Mrs. Pig under a large rolling rock. Additionally, an alpha wolf leads and summons other wolves in packs, increasing the challenge.

The game is known for its strategic shooting and timing, requiring players to protect the family while dealing with increasing numbers of enemies effectively. Pooyan features simple but colorful graphics and repetitive, fast-paced gameplay typical of early 1980s arcade titles.
